Research
Research on living wisdom.
At Vidyamandir, research is not separate from practice. We explore how timeless wisdom traditions can be lived, embodied, and studied in contemporary contexts.

Living the Bhagavad Gita in Auroville
तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया — “Approach knowledge through inquiry, humility, and service.”
A qualitative exploration of how members of the Auroville community engage with and embody the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
Presented in February 2026 at the International Conference on Discovery and Application of Vedic Knowledge at Auro University, where it was selected as one of the three most impactful papers among 67 submissions.
Ongoing Inquiry
Research that grows from practice.
Action Research
We study how eternal wisdom can be meaningfully integrated into present life through cycles of practice, observation, and reflection within the community.
This booklet is a compilation of reflections shared by participants who took part in the Bhagavad Gita in Daily Life collective learning journey facilitated by the Vidyamandir Auroville team.
Rather than presenting a theoretical understanding of the Bhagavad Gita, these reflections offer glimpses into how its teachings were explored, experienced, and applied in the context of everyday life — revealing personal insights, questions, moments of transformation, and the diverse ways participants related the wisdom of the Gita to their work, relationships, inner life, and spiritual practice.
First-Person Exploration
“Knowledge comes by identity.”
Honouring lived experience as an important aspect of first-person research, we invite you to listen to two students — Diya and Jiya from Ahmedabad University — share their personal experiences of engaging with the Bhagavad Gita during their six-week summer internship (2026) in Auroville.
