About Isha Upanishad
The Isha Upanishad is one of the shortest yet most profound texts in the Upanishadic tradition. In just eighteen verses, it addresses some of the deepest questions of existence — the nature of the Self, the relationship between the individual and the whole, and the reconciliation of inner life with outer action.
The opening verse — Ishavasyam idam sarvam — declares that all this universe is pervaded by the Lord. From this recognition flows a way of living that is both deeply contemplative and fully engaged with the world.
Sri Aurobindo gave the Isha Upanishad a central place in his own spiritual teaching, seeing in it a reconciliation of the spiritual and material that is rare even in Vedantic literature.
